  1. Three scenarios, three possibilities:

    1. That is a window/patio door. Grimm sees another dog outside (who appears to be Marmaduke) and thinks about ID theft because he thinks the dog is imitating him. It has adopted the same posture, for example.

    2. It is a television and Grimm is reacting to seeing this dog on TV and thinks about ID theft because he thinks the dog is imitating him. It has adopted the same posture, for example. Reminds me of the time I tried to talk to the people on the TV by talking into the cooling vents on the back. They just so happened to react in a way that I interpreted as responding to me. In my defence, I was very young.

    3. It is a mirror and Grimm be tripping. There were some crazy mushrooms on the cat turds he ate and he is hallucinating himself as a larger, more powerful, more handsome dog.

  2. I disagree. It does appear to be either a TV, or possibly a glass enclosure at an animal shelter. The joke is that it is Grimmy (and not Arthur) who thinks that it is a mirror.

  3. P.S. I was disagreeing with Arthur, not SingaporeBill, whose comment @2 was not yet visible as I was writing mine @3.

  4. Super Fun Pak Comix, in one of his snarky satirical takes, has a comic based on a dog even more enormous than Marmaduke or any of his forerunners / imitators.

  5. For a moment I vaguely remembered a comic that was a pretty blatant ripoff of Marmaduke back in the early 1980s. Then my brain reset and I realized I was probably thinking of Garfield and Heathcliff, although I’m sure there have been big dog strips that haven’t lasted as long as Marmaduke.

  6. I am certain Grimm is looking in a mirror (note purple frame) and seeing that Marmaduke has stolen his identity.

However, I want the magic mushroom theory of SingaporeBill to be true.
