@ arseetoo – The first item on that list would be enough for me. Germans really seem to like their oddball herbal liquers, but even after decades of exposure, I cannot stand the stuff.
Agreed Kilby. I tried it once, and it was like the worst tasting cough syrup ever. Bleghh!
I have heard of a widowmaker as a drink. I guess I find the concept of a future DUI/vehicular homicide incident less than amusing.
Seems to me that he should be buying the guy the fuzzy navel, as the Reaper is the widowmaker.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Widow_maker A widow maker is something that has the potential to cause sudden loss of life

I won’t quote at length, but in summary 1) “something having the potential to cause sudden loss of life” a) loose tree limb b) fatal heart attack caused by left coronary artery blockage
I’m interested in trying absinthe; has anyone done so? No place here in the Tampa area advertises it. Yet.
There’s a biker bar in Chicago called the WidowMaker. Most days it seems the guys walking in and out are upper-middle-class 9-to-5ers.
Forgot to subscribe. Again.
For your list, Mitch: The F-104 “Starfighter” was known as the Widowmaker in Germany, back in the 70’s.
@ Andréa – There is (or was) an “absinth bar” in downtown Berlin, but I last saw it years ago (not all that long after the stuff was re-legalized in lower concentrations).
There was one in Milwaukee, WI, but I left WI soon after and never got the chance to go there.
Well, I just found one in Tampa, only 45 minutes away. Something to keep in mind.
Pecos Bill’s horse was named Widowmaker.
Early Martin B-26 Marauders (WWII) were known as Widowmakers.
Hospital chaplain here. A “widow maker” is a STEMI (ST segment Elevated Myocardial Infarction). It’s the heart attack that kills otherwise (presumably) healthy 40-50-60 year olds. It is serious enough that I get a special alert on my phone when a patient is coming in so I know immediately what is happening. Two days ago, though, we had an 89 year old woman survive one; last night she was awake and talking and wanting to get out of the bed. You just never know!

F-104’s were, too.
Apparently, the saying in Germany went like this:
Q: How may a German citizen obtain their own F-104?
A: Buy a field, and wait.
I don’t drink (alcoholic drinks) and I knew that widowmaker was a drink, even if I did not know what was in it.
What, no mop?
Is a widowmaker a drink? I know it’s an aneurism and an old wrestler, but I’ve never heard of a drink by that name.
Chief, it’s anything deadly.
Widowmaker:
1 part(s) Jagermeister
1 part(s) Vodka
1 part(s) Coffee Liqueur
2 drop(s) Grenadine
