  1. um. It’s a castle, so it must have a king – but it’s underwater, so he must have drowned? That’s all I can come up with.

  2. I actually like it, and laughed. Funny in a surrealistic way. OTOH I just woke up; perhaps in a few hours I’ll look at it again and go, “Huh?!”

  3. I think it’s just one of those skeleton-thingy fishbowl decorations, but the fish wasn’t expecting it, and was traumatized.

  4. Okay, are we supposed to not get the scale until the fourth panel reveals it? So it’s a story with an actual full-size human skeleton up thru the 3rd panel?

  5. “Okay, are we supposed to not get the scale until the fourth panel reveals it? So it’s a story with an actual full-size human skeleton up thru the 3rd panel?”

Don’t see how. It’s obviously a goldfish and the only underwater castles we are familiar are gold fish scale so I don’t see how anyone could think it was an actual human.

In fact that make it funnier if it were a goldfish swimming around in some mansion with skeleton guards and treasure chest and them zoom out to reveal it wasn’t a bowl but a city flooded be a broken levee and an irradiate goldfish grown to gigantic size and there are human bodies in various stages of decomposition floating about… Okay, it wouldn’t be *that* funny. But it’d at least be comprehensible rather than this “um, so ….”

  6. I heard a bit about goldfish in a stand up routine once. Made me laugh.

    “Apparently goldfish have a 10 second memory. Imagine what that must be like…’Hey, a castle!…Hey, a castle!…Hey, a castle!…”

  7. Come back a few weeks later… and suddenly it seems not so weird. We expect the goldfish to accept the skeleton guy as decor because it is. But he treats it as though it is real and he’s terrified.

It’s still not funny but suddenly it doesn’t seem incomprehensible to me.
