  1. Even if we all agree that “sugar crash” is supposed to mean a withdrawal-like symptom (the opposite of “sugar rush”), that still doesn’t explain the comic. It looks like the dog is sniffing him and has decided “OK, this one’s toast. I guess I’ll have to walk myself from now on.“, but I can’t find any humor in it.

  2. Is it a lead-in to the next strip? Or meant to be pathos? A dog sniffing slightly afield is hardly going nuts and taking advantage (which wouldn’t be that funny anyway)..

  3. This dog is smart enough to know there’s nothing seriously wrong, he should just walk himself until the kid feels better. Don’t overwork it.

  4. @ Kamino Neko – That was a useful link. I knew that the effect was real (my brother was hypoglycemic for many years), I just had never heard it called “sugar crash”.

Okay, fine. You are probably correct but that still raises the question, in what way is this supposed to be even remotely funny. Or touching or whatever….

  6. @woozy, Yeah, it’s pretty low-energy for this particular strip. Maybe the artist was having his own sugar crash.

  7. @woozy — Maybe *slightly* touching in that we see the dog is more “mature” about choices than the kid (who has overdosed on sweets) is.
